Or I want something Easy to Use – I’m not a BBQ Chef But the King of my BackYard and love BBQuing or I’ve had the generics – now I want a good brand like Weber. I want a good Hood to try out a roast and I need a Side-Burner, etc.
*Thirdly, I size of the area that you have will influence the BBQ that best suits your needs. Bigger is not always better.

  1. Should I choose Gas or Charcoal or can I have both ?

Charcoal BBQs like Weber Kettle Style, Kamados or others utilize solid fuel of either Heat Beads or Natural Wood Lump Charcoal. The flavour that the foods takes on is unmistakable and some say the very best falvour in the world ! However – all charcoal bbq takes considerably more time to prepare prior to cooking- min. Of 45 minutes. You are also limited by the quantity you can cook for & the frequency that you can cover at once. This is for more leisurely times or to savour great company, great flavour and perhaps a great wine. Gas Barbies cannot replicate this flavour. Some long standing big branded bbqs do come close however.

Gas BBQs either LPG or Natural Gas – Suits the convenience of the Modern era’s hectic pace of life. You basically turn on the gas , ignite and off you go – ready to cook ! You can also cook quickly, for a greater number of people and  more frequently. Gas is very convenient and Easy to operate and clean. Why not compliment your  a Gas BBQ with a Charcoal unit ? Lots of our customers do this and swear by it. Gas is by far the largest volume seller of BBQs in Australia. Most Aussie households have a 4 burner gas barbie.
  1. What is Natural Gas ?

Natural Gas is a fixed supply of gas at a lower pressure that is used is nowadays supplies to many new homes for internal heating, hot water systems and kitchen cooktops. Often a gas room heater will be plugged into a wall bayonet fitting – this uses natural gas. These fittings are now placed externally in patios or backyards for external BBQ consumption. This means that you have a fixed supply of gas at all times and will never run out of gas. Its also cheaper than Bottled Gas(LPG).
  1. Do all BBQs come in Natural Gas ?

Most reputable big brand BBQs now come approved to run in Natural Gas. All BBQs have to be vigorously tested by the AGA (Australian Gas Association) and then certified for use in Natural gas form. Australian BBQs must have a compliance plate – this will show the Nat Gas AGA Approval Number.
  1. Will the BBQ Performance be affected ? & the Heat Output differ in Nat Gas format ?

Again, Most Big Brand BBQs eg. Weber & Beefeater will have no difference to their performance or heat output in their Nat Gas versions. BUT Almost all Mass Produced BBQs will suffer a significant heat loss when converted to Nat Gas – they are known to loose up to 30%. In many mass produced generic bbqs, on 4 or 5 Burner models, the last burner away from the manifold entry, will be noticeably less powerful. You will also notice a larger cold spot across the front & rear of the cooking area.
  1. Can I convert my existing BBQ to Nat Gas ?

Yes, only if it is AGA approved per point 2. Most Manufacturers and Retailers will guide you thru this process. You first point of contact is the Retailer that you purchased your bbq from. Ensure that you buy a manufacturer produced or recommended Nat Gas Kit. Failing this, contact a BBQ Specialist Retailer for technical advice.
  1. Do I really need a Side-Burner or Wok Burner ?

We get asked this question quite often. Only you can best answer this after we guide you thru the uses.

Today – almost 40% of BBQs both Trolley & Built-Ins have a requirement to have a SideBurner. Lots of people use this to do Deep-Frying outside and thus keeping the smells away from the kitchen. Try doing beer battered fish on the Side Burner or Fried Snapper Fillets with Home Style Chips. Try an accompanymient to the main meal like Beans on the Side Burner or Just use it to prepare a Basic Sauce. Or Boil some potatoes or Hard Veggies before throwing them on the grill. The uses can be endless but only you can decide.
  1. I’ve never BBQued with a Hood – Why do I need one – I won’t use it ?

Most BBqs nowadays come with Hoods. Some are quite basic and perform little functionality. Others from Good brands give you great versatility.
Want to do a Pork Roast on the BBQ or Try a Beer Can Chicken ? You’ll be the talk for days. How about some Delicious Lamb, Pork or Dinosaur Beef Ribs . Yum!
  1. Do all BBQs come as you see ?  Assembled ?

No, All BBQs on our display floor are assembled by us. Almost all models need some or thorough assembly. Some High End BBQs that we sell do include assembly and delivery in metro areas but this cost is built into the selling price by the manufacturers.
  1. Do you Assemble and Deliver ?

Yes, Most definitely. We offer a full assembly and delivery to your door service for all our Outdoor Furniture, BBQs & Heating Products. Prices are listed on our website. All our assembly is undertaken in-house, so as to ensure the very best Q.C. We also pre-test some of our models. Outdoor Furniture, Large Base Umbrellas and Outdoor Kitchens can also be assembled by us, as a complete service to your door. Most customers nowdays prefer to get us to assemble. For example and Standard 4 x Burner BBQ with Cabinet Trolley with Hood and Side Burner will cost $100.00 to Assemble and $50.00 for Delivery to your door metro without any stairs via 1 person delivery. Pls ask us to confirm.
  1. Can I use Charcoal on a Gas BBQ or can I interchange between both ?

No, All bbqs are approved & certified by the AGA for either Gas or Charcoal – by combining both forms of fuel, you could be in a potentially hazardous situation. If charcoal is used in combination with gas, the both forms of conflicting fuels could ignite. There is however a Weber Performer BBQ which uses gas to ignite the charcoals. Gas is only used in the first 5 minutes to speed up the charcoal briquettes not not for the cooking period. The solid fuel ie. Heat Beads then form the basis of the fuel to heat the bbq.
Outdoor Furniture FAQ's
  1. How to Choose Outdoor Furniture :

Outdoor Dining Furniture should be an extension of your home. Like you would choose furniture pieces for the interior of your home, so too should an Outdoor Setting match your needs and wants.

Remember – Entertaining, BBQuing & Outdoor Living is the most fun you can have with family or friends without leaving your home. Just the mere act of spending time together with the kids away from the TV or Computer is lots of FUN & it’s in your Patio – not far to go & everyone stays together.

So – you need to ensure that your primary needs are met when choosing the perfect match ie.
    1. How many would I most want to seat ? – 4, 6 or 8 or 10 people.
    2. Would this cater for my entertaining needs ?
    3. How often would we tend to entertain guests & need more seating ?

If the most of the time you would have 4-8 guests together with your family of 4, you could make do with an 8 seater Setting. Sometimes kids could use xtra or spare seating kept away in the shed or garage.

Your Backyard Area will no doubt have a impact on what you can use in the patio with still leaving reasonable room or access. Only you can be the perfect judge of this.

As a general indication, the following are Dimensions of tables :

    4 Seater    - 70cm x 70cm or 90cm x 90cm
    6 Seater    - 183cm x 110cm
    8 Seater    - 213cm x 109cm
    10 seater   - 218cm x 152cm  or   240cm x 110cm
    Squares     -  150cm x 150cm = 8 seater

    Table Heights are generally 72cm.

Sizes will vary dependant on the type of table & material & design ie. Wicker or Aluminium or Cast Aluminium or Stone Top Tables. Wooden Outdoor Tables in either Teak or Kwila or Jarrah can be much larger.  For example – our Devon Range of Kwila Wooden Outdoor Tables 10 seater = 305cm(L)x107cm(W) – Check our the Devon Combi Setting in our website.

Tip: Allow at least 50cm for the chairs at each end. This is the room that each chair will take up when being used. In the closed format, they may go fully forward under the tables, using much less room.

  2. What style of Outdoor Furniture do I choose ?    or What is Best ?

The choice of Aluminium, Wooden or Stone/Tile or Cast Aluminium Outdoor Settings or the ever popular Wicker Settings - becomes apparent with what the customer is accustomed to, & hence seems to have a preference to & what gives the best support/comfort/durability factor combined by what appearance takes their liking.

Often customers may have a preference for the more modern stylish Settings that are now on the market or some prefer the classic designed Settings.

Stone Tables – These are much heavier than Aluminium. They come in either Natural Stone – either granite or travertine stone from Iran, Spain or Italy or the Man Made Stone – made of resins. Once sealed – these tables will last many years with very little or low maintenance. If you like the look & it fits into your backyard décor – you’ll have a match. If you need a heavy setting for your patio, eg near coastal areas with high wind, stone or timber will fit well. Teak or Kwila Timber /Wood Outdoor Settings : Wooden settings have come a long way. You need to be sure to steer clear from the cheaper Soft Wood settings. These will splinter, split apart and loose their shape over time.

A good Quality Timber Settings will be made from a Long Lasting Hardwood that should not splinter or the timbers split apart over time.

They will change colour to a light grey but if you maintain them by oiling the settings once or twice a year – they colour will retain.
Also make sure your settings are made using Prime Grade Cuts of timber and it contains substantial timber under neath. Joints need to be strong and re-inforced with more than timber screws ! Also a good quality hardwood like Kwila is Rot Proof.
